Slaves usually received a monthly allowance of corn meal and salt herrings. Some slave owners let their slaves have a little patch of land to grow vegetables. Slaves also had an allowance to buy clothes each year, these could consist of "two coarse linen shirts, one pair of linen trousers, like the shirts, one jacket, one pair of trousers for winter, made of coarse negro cloth, one pair of stockings, and one pair of shoes, some slaves were given an overcoat and a woolly hat every 2-3 years". House slaves were usually better of than those who worked in the fields; house slaves had better food and were sometimes given families cast off clothing.
The children unable to work in the fields had neither, shoes, stockings, jackets, nor trousers. The children’s clothing allowance was given to there mothers or the old women looking after them.

Ku klux klan
The Ku Klux Klan is a racist group with a commitment to extreme violence to achieve its goals of racial segregation. Of all the types of right-wing hate groups that exist in the United States, the Klan remains the one with the greatest number of national and local organizations around the country.
More than 40 different Klan groups exist, including a few that boast a presence in a large number of states. There are over a 100 different Klan chapters around the country, with a combined strength of members and associates that may total around 5,000.
After a period of time, Ku Klux Klan activity has gone upwards in 2006, as Klan groups have attempted to exploit fears in America over gay marriage, perceived “assaults” on Christianity, crime and especially immigration.
