Malcolm X – the earlier life
Malcolm x was born on the 19th May, 1925 as Malcolm little and was the son of a Baptist minister, earl. In 1929 he and his family moved Omaha, Nebraska to Lansing, Michigan because of harassment and including the time his house was set on fire. When living in Lansing his father died of a crash where his body was sliced in two by a car and his head smashed in. In his autobiography, which was written by Alex Haley, Malcolm claims that his father was killed by the K.K.K (Ku Klux Klan).Malcolm’s mother, Louise was committed to a mental intuition as the stress of her dead husband and providence for the family got too much. When Malcolm left school, at eight grade, he went to live with his half sister Ella, who lived in Boston. There he took a job as a shoeshine boy at the Roseland ballroom he then turned to taking and selling drugs. During this he met a white girl which soon became his girlfriend. Whilst hanging around he started dressing and styling like white people & then burgled for money which was for drugs. In 1946 he was sentenced to 10 years in prison term on burglary. Whilst in prison he joined the national of Islam, which were also called the black Muslims. Whilst in this National of Islam he was taught that all white people were devils and when he left prison he adopted the last name of ‘X’ as his last name. The last letter stood for the unknown African name of Malcolm’s slave ancestors. Malcolm X soon became the group’s most effective minister, urging black people to live separate lives from whites. He encouraged people to win there freedom any way possible. He soon got fed up with the black Muslims because they avoided political activity.
How he died
Malcolm x was shot dead at a party meeting in Harlem in 21st February 1965. Although it was never quite answered who killed him he believed for quite a while before he died that the people from the nation of Islam were planning to kill him. He though this because Elijah Muhammad was jealous of him and the fact he could speak for his beliefs in front of large crowds, Elijah how ever could not. As far as we know, he was right. He was shot whilst giving a speech some one distracted him, whilst he was at the back of the room – where he was giving his speech. Some one else then walked up behind him an shot him at point blank range. Two other people then came along and did the same.
